Hi Everyone
Sorry I haven't been able to get on the board much recently, but I have been crazily busy - writing and recording for the new album and rehearsing with the band, getting ready for the overseas tour dates which are coming up, the team will post all the gig info in a few weeks time.

It was an honour to be invited to record the official anthem for the Nelson Mandela Foundation, for the Goal 4 Africa campaign and fantastic to be performing with Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The campaign is a brilliant idea, in that it uses football as a vehicle to raise awareness and funds, to build schools and improve education generally for the children in Africa - football teams all over the world will be taking part and donating money, each time a goal is scored - the whole idea will be advertised in the lead up to the event on July 12th.

So we have been getting the track ready with Ladysmith and also rehearsing the other tracks we will be performing at the event, the band and I are looking forward to it and it will be the first gig with Mickey Virtue joining us too, big up Mickey.

I am delighted with how the new album songs are shaping up and the Royal Albert Hall DVD is almost finished too, together with the documentary which will all be ready towards the end of the year.

Hope to see some of you, at the upcoming gigs , meanwhile , I will be doing another chat soon - the team will let you know the date - ( I have just about recovered from the last one ) Lol.

Big Love

News from Ali himself!
28 April 2008

Hi Everyone

Well we are back from Russia - it was a great gig, which we all really enjoyed and a good time was had by all - it was so interesting to see the changes in the country , since I was last there over 20 years ago with UB40 - some things were very different and some were still the same - but being spring , the sun was shining, which we were happy about as last time I was there it was winter and freezing - so no need for the furry hats and boots this time.

We did leave from the infamous Terminal 5 , however - so of course the keyboards decided to stay in London and had to fly out on their own the next day - but thankfully got there in time for the gig - big sigh of relief all round !!

Anyway , back home now and getting ready to go in the studio this week.

Looking forward to the chat - the team will post the date and time - so hopefully see you there .

Big love

Ali x

Various Artists
Spirits In The Material World:
A Reggae Tribute To The Police (Shanachie)

The Police crafted a merger of rock and reggae that was innovative and popular, with Sting's lyrics finding the comfortable middle ground between the secular expressions required for commercial acceptance and the spiritual implications that resonated with roots reggae performers.

This new compilation, which will be released Tuesday, celebrates Sting's lyrical prowess while spotlighting 13 variations both venerable reggae types and more conventional performers.

Besides showing the thematic flexibility of Sting's material, this anthology offers some unusual adaptations, particularly Inner Circle's (who doubled as producers) "Bed's Too Big Without You," and Ali Campbell's triumphant "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic."

RUNNING FREE TOUR - 2008
11 January 2008

As you all know, Ali is doing a one off unique concert at the RAH on April 3rd featuring an array of guest artists, a few very special surprise guests have still to be announced so watch this space... This concert is a once in a lifetime gig, due to all the artists taking part and promises to be an amazing night. However the demand for tickets has been so high, that Ali has decided to tour the solo album across the UK in June, so that anyone who is not able to make the RAH concert will still be able to come to see the RUNNING FREE TOUR. It is important to stress though, that the tour will NOT feature the guest artists and is therefore a very different show to the RAH gig. The tickets for the RUNNING FREE TOUR, will be offered on Ali's site exclusively for the fans for 24 hours before they go on general sale. The date will be posted on the site 2 days ahead of the pre sell, for anyone wishing to purchase tickets in advance. There are no tickets on sale until then. Enjoy the shows, those of you that are going. Thanks
